as part of my 'save up for the future' project, i stayed in camp to minimize my usage of dollars and cents. was quite successful. so since my company is having it's lull period, what am i doing in camp? sleeping in bunk all day could be one of the options, but since there;re facilities like the swimming pool, it's a shame not to utilise it. it'll also be a waste if the gym is not used, and of course, a run by the sea view route is also available. sounds like an island resort? it's definitely not! it's not as pleasant as a resort should be like, and that should be the case.
was involved in a workshop by the commander. not as a participant, but was helping out in a presentation on using of vulgarities. i got some of my fellow commanders to present a mini skit to help our co kick off the discussion. there were lots of opinions. like it's difficult to eradicate use of vulgarity completely; it is possible to not use any vulgarity at all; it is not right to use vulgarities on someone's parents; just stop using the dialect versions. all of them sound logical, one point brought up was that the society contributes to the vulgarity culture. no one was thought vulgarities at home. but ask anyone on the street, they sure know one word or two. it was brought up by one of the more senior personnel that he had heard primary 1 kids saying 'fucking good!'. so who's to blame? is it time for those who oppose vulgarities start to learn to accept them as form of the society's expressive languages? or should there be systems to eradicate it's usage in the many different organisations? it's definitely not right to accept and use them, but it is also imposible to have systems that oppose them. contradicting huh? i still see it as a form of expression. teenagers use them to show how mature they are, which they are not and it's a wrong perception. as this teenager genuinely matures, he/she'll continue using them as a lingo. time goes by, it becomes a lifestyle. it can be changed, but is there a need. we are not saints afterall!
