had been vv slack at home... nothing better to do so keep on editing my blog skin... not enuff ammunition to endure me through some urban indulgence. still haven continue reading the soul of a samurai. trying to finish my ish first. read an artical on the architect firm that designed the picturehouse. came across this term called shu-ha-ri. shu- meaning "to obey" or " to protect", ha- means "to break free" or "to frustrate", and ri- to set free. it describes the overall progression of martial arts training and the relationship between instructor and student. i can relate this to all things tt involves learning in life. looking back in secondary education, we started of with memorising the multiplication table. that's a typical example of "shu". then we were given loads of formulae, and we figure out ways to apply them in questions given to us in assignments, tests and examinations. at this stage we explore ways of application, depicting "ha". eventually, when some of us will get a chance to apply these mathematical formulae on their job, bringing convenience to the world. he is set free. this is "ri".
in life we experience this too. the majority of us followed through a compulsory path of education til around the age of 20. then we start to wonder what to do in life. there r those who get into this "ha" stage earlier than the rest of us, leaving the "main stream" and went on to pursue what they wanted. others go with the flow till they reach the open sea when they do not know which way to go. it may be planned for us to reach "ri" after 20 years or so, but we ain't robots. human can't be put to grow in a system. some needs less time, some juz need much more. most people at my age are in the "ha" time zone, frustrated on how to break free. listen to your heart, go for your calling, have faith in it.
Life's a voyage that's homeward bound.
