decided to write something on my role model.
his movies doesn't have great storyline, but the moves are more than sufficient to cover this flaw. remembered when i was so facinated by him that i bought a book, a little biography of him when i was ard primary 3 or 4. found out that he really did facinating feats and was really impressive. he made use of his time when recovering from an injury to work his mind and documented his thoughts on martial arts, which shows how much perseverance he had. pictures and words doesn't tell much though. got to borrow the first documentary video tape of him from a wushu senior when i was practicing at the community centre at primary 6. motion was much more convincing, and of course inspiring. saw the one-inch punch, the 1 finger push up. my second book of his came in sec 4. it's one of the 6 books that linda lee, his wife, compiled from his notes and sketches. in 'jeet kune do', it described him in more detail, by his wife, dan inosanto, and a few more of his co-workers, friends and deciples. he has his own philosophy on fighting, as a human, but not in any fixed style. listing pros and cons of some martial arts style he studied. and in detail, documented every single possible way to launch an attack. it was too detailed that i gave up reading. i still can't manage to finish the whole book, hahaha.
his motto for jeet kune do: 'using no way as way, having no limitation as limitation', gave me motivation when times are tough.
and here, in his own words: empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. when you put water into a cup, it becomes a cup. when you put water into a teapot, it becomes a teapot. you put in in a bottle it becomes the bottle. water can flow, but it wan crash, be water my friend.
enjoy the clip.
